Meet Callisto!  Callisto (Callie) is a 5-month old, female, golden brown, Yorkshire Terrier Mix puppy that weighs approximately 8.8 lbs. 

Callisto is a sweet puppy with an old soul.  She is a very smart girl.  She is observant and likes to take things at her own pace.  Callisto is shy in new situations.  She will need a slow introduction to the other dogs in your home.  Once she is comfortable this puppy is all play!  She loves to play and wrestle with canine companions of all sizes.  She loves her toys.  Callisto is almost potty trained as she still uses a potty pad during the night.  Her foster momma describes Callie as “sweet, sensitive and a total love”.

*Important Note about Callisto:

ARF rescued Callisto’s momma from a dumpster and soon realized she was expecting.  While Callisto’s siblings have all been adopted, we held Callisto with us a little longer as she has an eye condition we wanted to assess.  She has a few hairs growing on her right eye.  She doesn’t appear to be bothered by them, the hairs haven’t caused any damage to the eye and it’s not causing any medical problems.  According to the eye specialist, the hairs may never be a problem for her.  Then again, there is no telling what the future may hold.  We’ve decided this is one of the very rare occasions in rescue where we are going to embark on an elective surgery for a dog.  We don’t want this precious girl, or her new family, to have any concerns going forward so the rescue is currently raising funds to have the hairs surgically removed from Callisto’s eye.   It’s described as a basic surgery and Callie is expected to make a full recovery.  The procedure is going to cost the rescue several thousand dollars.  As it will take some time to raise that amount, we have decided to make Callie available for adoption now so that her new forever family can start enjoying her as soon as possible.  The rescue will arrange for the surgery post-adoption when the funding is in place.
