Meet Sadie! Sadie is an 18 month old, female, brown and white, Jack Russell Terrier mix. (We think. She may be part Bassett Hound or Schnauzer?). This girl has beautiful markings, floppy ears, a muscular build and shorter-legs. At her last vet visit she weighed 25 lbs.
Sadie was found tethered to a tree in an alley in central Phoenix. She had been there all night and when the freezing cold temperatures set in it was obvious she needed rescuing. After recovering from her ordeal, Sadie quickly blossomed into one of the happiest dogs ever rescued! She is so joyful! She truly appreciates every kindness shown to her. She loves playing with toys, snuggling on the couch, playing with the other dogs, sharing treats and sleeping in the bed with her person. Sadie has an easy-going personality and she rarely barks.
If I had to define sweet Sadie in a single word, it would be “devoted”. This charming girl will sit by your feet and wait for you to invite her into your lap. She will wait for you to come home. She will keep her eye on you when you are outside in the yard and will come find you if step out of her sight for too long. Sadie is going to be your best friend. She is just a truly loving and devoted pup.
Sadie is smart and seems to enjoy being trained. You don’t even need treats to train her! Just reward her by telling her she’s a “good girl” and giving her a pet. In foster care she has learned: Get Down, No-No, Outside, Potty, Ok, Kisses, Night-Night and Fetch. Sadie loves playing fetch. I mean, Sadie LOOOOOOVES playing fetch! I think she would enjoy an adopter who could throw the ball farther than my current record of around 6 feet?! Sadie likes taking car rides. She loves toys. Stuffed squeaker toys are her favorite. She loves playing with them, squeaking them, fetching them, playing tug with them and then de-stuffing them.
Sadie has been spayed, brought up to date on vaccines, microchipped and is now ready to join her new family. Sadie would benefit from having a companion animal in her new home. Sadie would do best in a home without small children. She may not be a good fit for someone who is unsteady on their feet. Sadie is approximately 70% potty trained and is learning quickly. Sadie has not exhibited any food aggression or resource guarding; she is not fearful and she has not exhibited any destructive behaviors while in foster care. This affectionate girl is a gem!
